An afternoon in the Sun…

What a perfect afternoon spent lapping up the last bit of sunshine on a Saturday afternoon. I have been meaning to visit Bona Terra Cafe in Assagay (KZN), for the longest time.  On a whim we decided to give this new spot a visit. It was just Skylar, my dad and I, and wow were we pleasantly surprised.

Firstly, it was still super busy at about 3:30, and the second, was that it was soooo much bigger than I had thought it to be. From the photos on social media, it looked like a quaint little cafe… ha ha, was I totally wrong.

We entered through one of the gates leading into the venue and passed some rather happy looking chickens and the stunning veggie garden. Our waiter quickly greeted us, and had us seated in no time.

My first impression, “have I been transported to the Midlands?”

The venue is designed to be family friendly, without an overt attention to children, yet they are totally a fantastic venue to bring your brood. What I mean by this… there is no gaudy decorations or kids shoved in one corner. The lawns open out to a wonderful sandpit area, outdoor play, playground and more.

Plus….

They also have a free kids club, with arts and crafts, softplay area, bikes and just an all round something for everyone type of venue. You really want to go for a good 2 hours or more. Find a spot, and settle in, because your kids won’t want to leave…. like mine… had to literally pull her out of the car she was sitting in (let’s just say I have a love, hate relationship with that car).

Their menu is not extensive, which is great, so you don’t take forever trying to read what they have on offer, the prices are reasonable too, with some unique drink options that stray from the “ho hum” standard offerings.

Will I be back… a big loud YES! It’s one of those venues  that is just good for the soul, and it is sooo close to home.

Skylar is wearing:  Urban Kids / Shooshoos

I just love this outfit… like a lot…. The top from Urban kids can be worn on warmer and cooler days, just pair it with a long sleeve top, or denim jacket. The colour is gorgeous like a warm marigold.

The Shooshoos…. these navy polka a dot high tops are NEW, yes super new, they are not even on the website yet… they will be soon though. They are legit, I am not talking nonsense here… Skylar’s favorite pair, if she could sleep in them she would. I can’t wait for the official launch of their high top sneakers, they are just gorgeous!!!
